On Wednesday, March 2nd at 8 pm, Dr. Peter Silver’s 17-piece big band Blue Nitrous will play a one hour set at the famous Bitter End in New York City. The Bitter End is located at 147 Bleecker Street between Thompson and LaGuardia. Admission is $10.

Tickets may only be purchased via this website at the link below.

Doors open at 7 pm and there is a two drink minimum. Soda and juice can apply towards that minimum. Anyone under the age of 18 may attend but must be accompanied by
at least one parent.

Purchase of tickets online will guarantee admission, but ticketed preferred/reserved seating is only held until 7:30 pm. Tickets may also be purchased at the door at 7 pm. After 7:30 PM, all seats will become General Admission.

By popular demand, the 17 piece big band Blue Nitrous returns for two spectacular performances on Wednesday, September 17th at Sweet Rhythm. We will be joined by our talented singer, Stacey Brass and will perform two unique sets of music at 8 and 10 PM. The cover charge is $15 and the minimum is $10 with dinner service available. For the past eight years or so, my big band has held a holiday get together and performance at the musician’s union on 48th Street. This year there will be no party at the stark union hall because of serendipitous timing. Instead of sipping wine in a plastic cup under fluorescent lights, I invite you instead to join us at the much friendlier and cozier Sweet Rhythm Jazz Club on Wednesday December 13th at 8 and 10 pm.

One of the great things about having a big band is the freedom to choose music that I am passionate about. For this special concert we are performing two completely different sets of incredible latin charts that will pull you out of your seat and get you dancing. From Sambas to Swing and Bossa Nova to Ballads, come get your groove on with Blue Nitrous!

Featuring a special guest artist on Congas and as always, the amazing Stacey Brass on vocals, this is one Wednesday night worth Tivoing Top Chef for. Jazz Club Debut Performance a Huge Success!

Wednesday May 31st exceeded my wildest expectations. The week before we had a really great rehearsal and I felt confident that it would go well. What I learned was that with a fantastic live audience cheering us on, the band played better than I had ever heard them! We filled the room with sound, but never played too loudly!

Our vocalist Stacey Brass thrilled the audience with her songs! Even though she did not have the help of a monitor to hear herself, she was pitch perfect and gave a great performance!

Based on our success, Sweet Rhythm has given us another date!!

We are coming back on Thursday, June 29th for sets at 8 and 10 pm. Luckily, Stacey Brass will be back with us as well! I would like to invite everyone who attended to come back and hear all new music! Those who could not make it on the 31st, please call 212-255-3626 right now and make a reservation for the 29th!! Some folks were turned away because they didn’t make a reservation and I don’t want that to happen again.

Our Illustrious Trombone Section (at least that’s what they told me to say…..)

Many big band leaders take the trombone section for granted I have been told, unless the leader was a bone player! Usually they are shoved in the middle of the band, with the trumpets blasting in their ears and the saxes screaming at them from the front. No wonder many of them wear ear plugs while playing or suffer hearing loss. I am completely serious about this. When I played for years in a big band workshop that had one or more likely, no trombones, I realized how much of an important voice they are in a big band arrangement. Many of the greatest big band composers were trombone players! I can’t think of any at the moment, but really, you’ve got to believe me so I can make this point! I decided a long time ago that I did not want my bone players to go deaf, so I worked out a rehearsal formation where they could have their own space, deservedly so. That and the fact that no other section in the band wanted them…

I am very proud to play with on a weekly basis, from near to far – John Lehr, Jason Frost, Bradley Madson and Wayne Johnson!
